    Virtual New Deans Institute

    The Virtual New Deans’ Institute, scheduled for July 13, is a program tailored to primary, associate, and assistant deans who began their roles in the past two years. NDI faculty provide introductions to key principles for effective leadership in graduate education.

    Elements of the Virtual New Deans’ Institute:

    • Two and a half hours of virtual introductory courses led by experienced graduate deans.
    • Programming focused on “the basics” of graduate dean leadership with additional guidance on leading in uncertain times.
    • Insights from new deans reflecting on lessons learned over the course of the first year of leadership.
    • Opportunities to ask questions of course instructors.
    • Participation in a small, virtual cohort of new deans that will meet quarterly beginning in July, and led by a veteran dean facilitator.

    Virtual Summer Workshop

    The Virtual Summer Workshop offers participants a fresh focus on hot topics that affect every facet of graduate education. Scheduled virtually July 14-17, this year’s Virtual Summer Workshop will continue to provide you with opportunities to learn about the current issues facing graduate education.

    Elements of the Virtual Summer Workshop:

    • 9 sessions with formal presentations on key issues in graduate education, with a focus on serving graduate students and programs through the COVID-19 pandemic.
    • Ability to sign up for two Hot Topic sessions – small group (20 people max) facilitated discussions on current issues in graduate education.
    • Opportunity to join “learning community” sessions throughout the fall to continue the discussion of graduate education in a post-COVID-19 world.
    • Opportunities to ask questions of presenters.
