FY 2021 Appropriations Advocacy
    February 25, 2020

On February 10, the Trump Administration released its Fiscal Year (FY) 2021 president’s budget proposal titled, “A Budget for America’s Future.” CGS responded to the budget citing concerns about several proposed cuts to programs that support graduate education and research. Ultimately, the House and Senate appropriations committees are responsible for developing a bipartisan package that is signed into law. These legislators will hold a series of public hearings over the next several months to gather witness testimony, debate, and piece together twelve appropriations bills to cover federal discretionary spending, including that for education and research. Generally speaking, House appropriations subcommittees will begin this work in early spring, followed by the Senate subcommittees in late spring to early summer. CGS will keep its members apprised of the process at it moves forward and will be collaborating with its colleague organizations to urge strengthened support for programs of interest. This webpage will serve as a hub to view CGS’s communications and resources related to FY 2021 advocacy.
