Idea Lab 2: Strategies for Broadening Dissemination and Impact

By Kelley Karnes

Once you reach a milestone, get the word out.

What sounds like advice from a marketing director at a Fortune 500 company, is from Gundula Bosch, one of the presenters at CGS’s January Idea Lab for Innovation in Graduate Education (IGE) Hub.

Idea Lab is a virtual gathering of IGE Hub awardees who meet up to discuss their projects. The IGE Hub is an NSF funded Innovation Acceleration Hub designed to support learning, dissemination, and collaboration among IGE awardees.

At this most recent meeting, Bosch, director at R3 Center for Innovation in Science Education at Johns Hopkins University, and Corrie Kuniyoshi, manager of student experiences, and Joerg Schlatterer, director of Office of Research Grants, both from the American Chemical Society, presented on how they used podcasts, social media, newsletters, and op-eds for disseminating research to new audiences.

Watch the full presentations from Gundula Bosch and Corrie Kuniyoshi and Joerg Schlatterer to learn more about the strategies they used for effective outreach.
