The Drake, a Hilton Hotel built in 1920, is renowned for its rich history and architectural integrity and is proudly listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally conceived as the nation’s first urban resort, the hotel is situated in Chicago’s prestigious Gold Coast neighborhood along the shoreline of Lake Michigan, just steps from the Magnificent Mile. Its prime location places guests at the center of Chicago’s premier retail and dining corridor.
Hotel Rate Information
We encourage you to book your room in the CGS room block at The Drake, as CGS gets credit for the rooms, allowing us to keep rates low for future events. CGS is offering attendees the special meeting rate of $269 per night single or double occupancy. Reservations at the group rate will be accepted by the hotel through June 18, 2026.

A room tax of 17.4% will apply to the rate. The room rate will be available for three days prior to and after the meeting based on availability. Plan to make your room reservations as early as possible as reservation requests received after June 18 will be accepted by The Drake on a space-available basis.
Travel to Chicago
Chicago is served by both O’Hare International Airport and Midway Airport. O’Hare is approximately 14 miles from The Drake Hotel, with an average travel time of about 45 minutes. Midway Airport is located 17 miles away and typically requires a 25-minute drive. Transportation options from both airports include taxis, rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft, and CTA “L” train service. Chicago Union Station, with Amtrak service, is 2 miles away from the Drake.
What to Wear
In July, Chicago enjoys long, sun-filled days. The average daily high temperatures are in the mid-80’s. A sweater or jacket may be needed in air-conditioned hotel meeting rooms. Workshop and Institute participants usually wear business casual clothing and find that relaxed, comfortable summer attire is appropriate for all the sessions and meals. Casual clothing is acceptable for touring.
