NEW: 2025-2027 State Snapshots on Graduate Education are Available

By Kelley Karnes

CGS has recently updated the State Snapshots, a longstanding and useful resource for graduate education leaders. The 2025-2027 State Snapshots provide state-specific data on the scope and impact of graduate education and research in each state and a few U.S. territories. The snapshots are downloadable and can be used by graduate education leaders when meeting with state and federal policymakers, others in the graduate school and broader campus community, and higher education stakeholders.

Featured data include: total enrollments and degrees conferred for doctoral, master’s and certificates; federal research funding from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, National Endowment for the Humanities, and the National Institute for Food and Agriculture; projected state workforce demands over the next few years; and CGS member institutions by Congressional district.

Use your State Snapshot when meeting with policymakers to highlight the impacts of graduate education on your state and workforce.
