I am convinced that I read a policy stating that accelerated programs or 4+1 programs (Bachelors–Masters) could only use 12 graduate credits towards the confirming of the bachelors degree. I thought it was a policy specific to accelerated degrees. I can’t find if this was a federal or state policy or honestly if I dreamt this up. This is related to a prior discussion here on undergraduates taking grad courses, but not exact. Thank you. Gabe

Typically the number of credits that can be double counted toward both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees is determined by state policy. For example, in the State of Maryland the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) states that while the number of credits is typically 9 each university can set the number based on a reasonable justification. At UMBC 9 credits can be double counted for most programs. If the master’s program requires 36 or more credits, then 12 credits may be double counted. Hope this helps.
