The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program)
The CITI program is a university-wide system dedicated to serving the training needs of colleges and universities, as well as other large institutions, to “foster integrity and professional advancement of their learners”. Many institutions have CITI access; check with your institution. Independent learner prices are $49 for mentoring resources.
Center for the Improvement of Mentored Experiences in Research (CIMER)
CIMER’s mission is “to improve the research mentoring relationships for mentees and mentors at all career stages through the development, implementation and study of evidence-based and culturally-responsive interventions”. They offer a variety of trainings and curricula to support that mission.
National Center for Faculty Development & Diversity (NCFDD)
NCFDD is “the leading provider of professional development in higher education”, and provides on-demand access to mentoring, tools, and support to help graduate students, postdocs, and faculty members succeed in their careers. Inclusive Research Mentor/People Manager Training
University of California San Francisco Office of Career and Professional Development
This training is free and held periodically. While the Spring 2024 training has concluded, check back soon for dates for the next one. Through eight Zoom modules, participants will self-assess and then learn how to set expectations, give feedback, and communicate inclusively, among other insights.
National Research Mentoring Network (NRMN)
The NRMN disseminates innovative, evidence-based best practices to improve mentoring relationships at institutions across the country, with the goal of enhancing the participation of people from underrepresented backgrounds in the biomedical workforce. Their website has a variety of free resources, from publications to courses to tools to address unconscious bias, that are applicable to a variety of disciplines.
