Artificial intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies will fundamentally change graduate education. While much has been written about the ways technology could change graduate education for the worse, these same technologies have the potential to help graduate leaders better promote, measure, and support student success. The 2025 Global Summit will explore the possible applications of artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies to help students succeed. The meeting will focus on AI – how it has been deployed on campuses around the world, the ways it has changed how graduate education is delivered, its impact on assessment, and how graduate students are producers, as well as consumers, of AI tools – though other related emerging technologies like machine learning, natural language processing, robotics, and augmented reality may also be discussed.
The meeting will be divided into six panels discussing important subtopics related to AI.
- AI and emerging technology deployment across various local, regional, national, and transnational contexts.
- AI as a tool to teach graduate students new skills and knowledge.
- Graduate student researchers as knowledge producers in AI and emerging technologies.
- AI as a challenge to existing paradigms of student success and the emergence of new paradigms.
- Using AI to improve assessment and metrics of student success.
- Forecasting the role of AI in scaling graduate education and research to meet global grand challenges.
