Typically the number of credits that can be double counted toward both the bachelor’s and master’s degrees is determined by state policy. For example, in the State of Maryland the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) states that while the number of credits is typically 9 each university can set the number based on a reasonable justification. At UMBC 9 credits can be double counted for most programs. If the master’s program requires 36 or more credits, then 12 credits may be double counted. Hope this helps.
