The UCI Humanities Center has launched the Grant–Writing & Research Development Summer Institute to expand PhD students’ capacities in grant–writing, research development, and project development. The institute approaches grant–writing holistically and includes sessions that focus on technical skills, on understanding the collaborative process from a variety of perspectives, and on understanding the role of grant–writing in the broader process of research planning and project development.
The Deans of the Graduate Division and the School of Humanities launch each institute, welcoming the participants and situating the institute within the School’s and Graduate Division’s vision for graduate education. Additionally, the institute is a collaboration with Beall Applied Innovation. The institute will be offered twice during the grant award period with twenty students in each cohort. Spaces are reserved for English and History PhD students, with the other spaces open to graduate students from other humanities PhD programs.
