Hello everyone: I’m wondering if anyone else has Iranian graduate students affected by recent new sanctions against Iran that have resulted in frozen bank accounts? I heard from a graduate student yesterday that Wells Fargo has frozen her bank accounts due to new sanctions. If you do have a similarly affected student, I am gathering information to provide to Amy Scott at CGS. Either share with me here or chris.nelson@und.edu or send directly to her at amscott@cgs.nche.edu. Thanks, Chris
Hi Chris! At Norther Illinois our Iranian students have not had any issues that they have elevated to the Grad School or to ISSS. The only issue we continue to face (like everyone) is the delays involved with the visa due to administrative processing.
We saw this issue with Flagstar Bank (what Wells Fargo morphed into in our area). They wouldn’t budge on it. We did go to some local banks and ask if they would offer banking services to Iranian students, and they did.
