We do allow use of ‘thesis’ credits in the non-thesis track, when a student switches. However, we do not allow the reverse (i.e., use of non-thesis/research credits to substitute for thesis credits if a student switches from non-thesis to thesis option is not allowed).
Sadly, at WMU the Grad School does not collect application fees or tuition. With our RCM-like budget model, tuition goes to the college housing the program and app fees go to central budget to pay for the application system and personnel.
We also do not use probation for time to degree but use an approval process to allow continuation. Our only method of encouraging timely completion is the annual review process.
