Our Summer Workshop and New Deans Institute will be held in Boston, Massachusetts on July 13-17, and early bird registration has been extended to May 15th. We have a great line-up of speakers for our plenary sessions that you won’t want to miss.

Suresh Venkatasubramanian

Suresh Venkatasubramanian will lead a plenary titled “Graduate Education and the Promises of AI.” Dr. Venkatasubramanian is the Director of the Center for Technological Responsibility, Reimagination, and Redesign (CNTR) with the Data Science Institute at Brown University. He previously served as Assistant Director for Science and Justice in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, where he helped co-author the Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights.

Dr. Venkatasubramanian’s talk will explore the challenges and opportunities that AI poses for graduate education and research, as well as how it provides exciting new opportunities in research, pedagogy, and career preparation.

Wojtek Chodzko-Zajko will lead our plenary on “Understanding DEI in Federal and State Legal Contexts.” Dr. Chodzko-Zajko, Dean, Graduate College, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, will chair a panel as they detail how universities can navigate state-based legislation to restrict or ban DEI programs. The panel includes:

  • Liliana Garces, Professor, Educational Leadership and Policy, The University of Texas at Austin
  • Jamie Lewis Keith, Distinguished Senior Law and Policy Fellow, EducationCounsel LLC
  • Angela Onwuachi-Willig, Dean, Ryan Roth Gallo Professor of Law, Boston University School of Law
